i have reached the summit, scaling down the other side. most of my applications are in & i feel quite joyous. this is only the first step in a process now heavy with waiting & anticipation. i think this photo, taken over a week ago now, illustrates literally where i have been for weeks, my desk, my room, papers surrounding me, swallowing me. & the expression, illustrative of my mental capacity, filled.
i have found the time now for a LIFE. last weekend i had the opportunity to meet one of my oldest internet friends, amelia, who used to live in portland & was visiting from austin. she's a really amazing artist, vegan chef, zine crafter & fashion maven. she's also friends with anja who i have been wanting to meet since i moved to pdx. anja is likewise a fashionista, antique enthusiast, & incredible artist. we all had brunch, including amelia's bff misha, at tin shed on alberta. my first internet-friend meet-up! i have to say, it's rare that i'm in the company of such charming (& well-dressed) ladies... i felt pretty fancy walking down the street with all of them. anja made a blog post about our date with super-cute photos, too... here!
anja invited me to a clothing swap this week, where i met an overwhelming amount of beautiful awesome ladies (& ran into a few i knew). i have to say this was definitely the mother-lode in clothing-swap scores. i got three 50s dresses, a mustard blouse, wooly culots (perfect for bicycling).. & maybe more that i don't recall. it was a very well organized swap, everything separated by garment type. there is something so surreal & magical about clothing swaps, especially one of this size, where girls are running around in wild outfits & colorful fabric is strewed everywhere, everyone in various states of undress, drinking laughing. it was nice to be in this environment again, after being separated from my commune of favorite lady friends in tucson for quite some time.
since then: a spontaneous 12 hr jaunt to seattle, art museum, wild rumpus of a house-show & an afterparty stomping dancing until the wee hours & rising early to rush friends home to responsibilities- jobs etc. definitely sleepless (in seattle). ha.
& now my lady wife dear roomatey lia is homeward bound by plane, so i'm on my way to go grab her.

I'm glad you decided to take those crazy wool pants, they have some awesome potential! Nice work scoring those 50's dresses too, you were the perfect person for them to go home with.
