those are so pretty. they're going to end up being a lot on ebay because they're designed by elsa schiaparelli. & i don't need glasses, but if i did, i would spend a lot on those & wear them ever single day. i was going to write a post about how much i love her designs, but i can't find enough pictures of her clothes to use right now. i'm most fond of her collaborations with salvador dali etc. & i love that coco chanel, her greatest rival, described her as "that italian painter who makes clothes"...

as for me, i have spent a lot of time in the past days trying to assess what the future holds for me. i very much wanted to try to farm in northern california & oregon this summer. my permanent destination is portland, & i think to have the financial means to move, i will have to postpone unpaid farm work for a while. i am going to look into jobs that are available in portland through americorps. that way, i will at the very least have a job for the initial 9 to 12 months that i live there. so. those are the facts right now.

i should be reading my nabokov book, invitation to a beheading. i so look forward to time when i get lost in books, but i am also a very unmotivated reader. this is in part because i have not trained myself to read quickly. i pore over words & allow myself to re-read sentences until they sink deep into my mind. i don't read often enough to train my speed. something to work on, i guess. if i take my book to the bath, will i read it? i fear falling asleep. if you never hear from me again, maybe this will be my demise.

Those are as gorgeous as your description, and very subtly surreal. I would love to see you peeping out of them. But we can peep through some real field flowers in Oregon?!
