i love pete drake. i heard one of his songs on a mississippi records mixtape that lia bought & then i remembered seeing this video. its always a bit difficult to articulate that off-color quality that excites me about gems like this... similar to a scene from blue velvet or a diane arbus photo? residual plasticity of 50s suburban culture, lingering in darker, odder ways in later decades. i do find this song genuinely romantic, so i present it here as a sort of valentine to you who's eyes are passing over these words.
