i love paul outerbridge. his erotic photos from the 30s are some of my favorites... i even went so far as to scan images of his photos out of a book, made them poster-size, & put them in gold frames-- one of my most expensive interior-decor decisions ever, though worth every penny.

some of outerbridge's last works have recently come public in a show currently at the los angeles public library. these photos are all from a series he did in the 1950s in southern california & mexico. the colors are so beautifully warm & saturated. i definitely see a similarity in the light in southern arizona. although these images are incredibly nostalgic, i also find outerbridge's eye captivating.. & some of them are even slightly erie, whether in the awkward model's pose & expression or the deflated carnival carriage in mexico. i love them for their depiction of a time & place that i so romanticize.
